1.0  Pixellot Clipper

1.1  Features / Background

  1. App to create clips (Panoramic View) of the entire field.  The user can create as many clips as s/he wishes.
  2. Clipper needs to be the same version as VPU.  When VPU software is updated, it is important to remember to also update the Clipper.
  3. Pixellot provides the dedicated laptop, where Clipper is installed and configured.  So when the client receives the Clipper system, there is no setup work, it is "Plug and Play".
  4. Clipper works for both Live and VOD events.  
  5. Zoom-in enables viewer to zoom into a certain section of the saved video.

2.0  Using Clipper

2.1  Before starting Clipper:

  1. Ensure that an Event is created in the Pixellot CMS System.

2.2  Open Clipper by clicking on Clipper Icon on Laptop:



2.3  Clipper Opens:

2.3.1  Select Source.
  1. Live - See Section 3
  2. Recorded - See Section 4
  3. Local - See Section 5




3.0 Live 



3.1. For a LIVE Event, click on  Menu Icon on upper right of screen.  Then select CHOOSE VIDEO SOURCE from Pulldown Menu: 


Click on LIVE on Choose a Source screen:
Select the relevant VPU Server (SELECT SERVER - first column), and then SELECT EVENT (second column).  The Server is selected (VPU) and then the relevant Live Event. 

3.2. The CLIPPER laptop needs to be on the same network as the VPU, to access the Live Event.  This means that the CLIPPER Laptop user will need to be located at site of the event.

3.3.  Only Live Events defined in the CMS / OTT will be available in the CLIPPER.

3.4. When the relevant Live EVENT is selected, press on START to load the Event Video Stream into the CLIPPER application.

      


3.5.  The Video input will be a panoramic view, and a PRESET view will be defined by the user - using the mouse to move the PRESET viewer window on the Panoramic video.
      


3.6. To Create the Clip: 

  1. Once the PRESET is selected, click on the   icon on Right Side to create the clip.
            

  1. Click on  to create Preset (Video Source), and give it a name.

            

  1. Once a name is given, click on the SAVE icon  to save.

3.7.  Record the Clip.  Note: For Live Events, only one Clip can be recorded.
  1. Click on the Record icon  .
  2. Once pressed, a timer will run to indicate the length of recorded video:
            
  1. To pause the Clip Recording, click on the   icon.

3.8.   Additional Presets can be added by pressing on the   icon.   Any section of the Panoramic View can be selected for additional Presets.  Only one Video can be recorded at any one time, for Live Events.
Note: For Recorded (VOD) or Local videos, multiple clips can be created simultaneously.

3.9.  Once the user has completed creating the Clips in the Live Events, click on the  to go to view the Status of the clips.

3.10  Video Quality of Clips.  All the Clips are in SQ (Standard Quality), and at a later stage, the Clips will be available at HQ (High Quality).  Once the Live Event is over, there is a "post process" which automatically generates the HQ (High Quality) Video Clips.

L.  To configure the Joystick:

- Select the pulldown menu on Upper Left corner of screen, and click on SETTINGS.



- The following opens:



This interface enables defining Joystick button commands:  Start Recording, Stop Recording, and move Presets with Joystick.  Supports Left, Right, Up, Down, Zoom in, Zoom out -- functionality.

- Joystick is connect to Clipper Laptop via USB Port. 


4.0  Recorded (VOD)



4.1. For a RECORDED (VOD) Event, click on  Menu Icon on upper right of screen.  Then select CHOOSE VIDEO SOURCE from Pulldown Menu: 


Click on RECORDED on Choose a Source screen:

Select the relevant VPU Server (SELECT SERVER - first column), and then SELECT EVENT (second column).  The Server is selected (VPU) and then the relevant Recorded Event. 

4.2.  There is no requirement for the Clipper Laptop to be on the same network as the VPU, so the Clipper application will work wherever there is an appropriate Internet connection.

4.3. Continue to section 5.0 LOCAL (below).

5.0 Local 

To use Local source files, the relevant files (Panoramic View, Additional Angles, Calibration) must be downloaded to the Clipper Laptop.  If the files have already been copied to the Clipper Laptop, continue to Section 5.4 below.  If the files have not yet been copied to the Clipper Laptop, continue with Section A below.

5.1.  To copy files to the Clipper Laptop, go to the RECORDED EVENTS:
Note: To copy the EVENT files to the Clipper Laptop, the Laptop needs to be on the same network as the VPU.  Once the files have been downloaded, there is no requirement for the Clipper Laptop to be on the same network as the VPU, and Clipper work can be performed anywhere.

 -  Click on  Menu Icon on upper right of screen.  Then select CHOOSE VIDEO SOURCE from Pulldown Menu: 


- Click on RECORDED on Choose a Source screen:

5.2. Select the relevant Server (SELECT SERVER) and EVENT (SELECT EVENT) on Right column.  Click START.


5.3.  Download Status Bar will indicate download progress.  The following files for the relevant EVENT will be copied:  (Panoramic View, Additional Angles, Calibration).

Note:  If the selected EVENT has already been downloaded, no files will be copied.
The files are downloaded from the VPU.



Files are now downloaded.

5.4.  Select Local video source:

 -  Click on  Menu Icon on upper right of screen.  Then select CHOOSE VIDEO SOURCE from Pulldown Menu: 


5.5. For a LOCAL Video Source, select LOCAL on Choose a Source screen. 




5.6.  LOCAL files are saved on the Clipper Laptop.  Video clips need to be MP4 format.   The file can be produced on any Pixellot system (ie. S1, S2, etc...), as long as it is in Panoramic View, and produced with Pixellot Calibration Settings.

5.7.  Select Video Source.  The relevant file will have "pano" in the file name.





Note: All the relevant required files are automatically created during the Event and saved on the VPU.  The Clipper system only works with files produced by the various Pixellot systems.  Video files not produced by Pixellot systems (even for a MP4 file in a Panoramic view), will not work in Clipper.

5.8. Press START to continue.

5.9.  It may take a few minutes until video loads:


5.10.   For Local Videos, the Clipper can be used anywhere, since there is no requirement to be on same network as VPU.  The files are saved on the Laptop.  
Note: The Clipper laptop needs to be on the same network as the VPU when the files are copied to the Clipper Laptop (Panoramic View, Additional Angles, Calibration).

5.11.  The following screen will appear:


5.12.  Selecting Presets.  
Note:  In LOCAL numerous Presets can be set, on multiple sections of the Panoramic View, or Additional Angle Videos.
- Use the Mouse to position the Preset, where you want Clipper to prepare a video recording.


5.13.  To add a Preset:
- Click on  on right of screen.
- Click on  on right of screen, to add a Preset.
- The Presets can be named.  Each Preset has a color, which correlates with a colored box on the Panoramic Video Pane.


5.14.  Screen Features:
- Additional Angle Panes can be selected, to obtain video clips from areas within those video views.
- Viewfinder can be adjusted (with mouse), to "Action Regions".
- Preview enables zoomed view of Viewfinder region.


5.15.  Creating Time Marks:



- Select the relevant Preset.
- Allow video to run.


- Use the  icon to select start of video capture.

- Use the  icon to select end of video capture.

5.16.   Multiple Time Marks:
- On Timer Bar, at bottom of screen, multiple time periods can be set.
- Each Preset has a pulldown, where a time period can be selected, for recording start and end times.
- Multiple Presets can use the same time period for recording.



- Time Marks are selected from Pulldown at Presets section of screen.  Then hit ASSIGN.  Once ASSIGN is clicked, the same Preset can have an additional Time Mark added, and then click on ASSIGN.  Each Time Mark (even for same Preset), will generate a separate Clip file.


5.17.  Viewing Time Marks and saving all the Clips:

- Click on  icon to view a list of Time Marks, per Preset.



- Click on START ALL to run the video to save the Presets clips, per defined Time Marks.

- You can use the up/down arrows to define the order of video clip creation, and the delete icon to delete the Preset Time Marks.


5.18.  Viewing the saved Clips:

- Click on  icon to view the list of saved Clips.

- Click on relevant  icon, to view the clip per Preset (SQ - Standard Quality;  HQ - High Quality):


- Video Clips can be viewable from Clipper, or saved to computer, and then shared.
