1.0 Introduction

1.1  Scope:

Prime GEN1 - Fiber kit installation guide –Single Mode fiber, LC-LC terminals - Assembly instructions

1.2  Kit Contents:

The Kit contains 3 boxes: camera box, PC box and power box

1.3  Schematics:

Basic schematics of the prime system based on fiber kit – up to 100 meters distance:

Actual wiring:

2.0  Installation:

2.1  Camera Box installation (metal enclosure):

1. Disassemble the split glands from the bottom of the box.
Open it, using a screwdriver, lift gently the teeth from both sides, so the gland splits to 2 parts, and the grommets can be removed (same for all different glands in the kit).

2. Connect the supplied Rj45 (Keystone) to the cat6 cable, Insert the fiber and the Cat6 to the hole in the box.
Note: insert both the O-ring seal and the gland’s nut on the cables, for assembling it again later on.

3. Insert the fiber to the terminal box, secure the pig-tail LC fibers and connect the terminals to the LC-LC couplers.
Note: This procedure should be carried out by a fiber specialist. Fiber welding is needed.

4. Connect the RJ-45 keystone to its place and close the split gland.

Camera connection:
5. Insert the camera’s harness through its gland.

6. Connect all 4 USB connectors to the repeaters, align and tight the bolts to secure the cables.
Note: securing the USB with bolts is “a must” to ensure full connections.

7. Connect the blue ethernet cable (audio cable) to the keystone, and the Ground wire, to the plate with the designated bolt.

Wired camera box:

Mounting options for the camera box:

On the back side of the camera box, there are mounting adapters for installing the box on a pole (using the steel bands).
Or installing it on a wall, using the 4 ears attached to the box.

2.2  PC Box Installation:

PC box installation:

1. Insert the fiber and the Ethernet cable to the PC BOX, through the glands.
2. Repeat steps 1-4 for proper connection of the fiber optics installation and the Ethernet-audio cable.

Wired PC BOX:

Note: Make sure using same fiber pairs, in the right directions, on both sides of the fiber.

2.3  Power Box Installation:

Power Box installation:

1. The power box is already assembled.
The box should be mounted in the nearest location of the camera box, to
supply DC power over a speaker cable of 14AWG (not necessarily near
the PC box).

2. Connect the spikon socket to the 14AWG double cord cable.

Note: make sure you connect the red to “1+” and the black to “1-“ same on both ends.
Verify a solid and good connection in the terminals, and check that the wires cannot pulled out.
Be aware that when you close and tight the enclosure, it is unidirectional connector and almost impossible to open it again.

3. Connect the spikons connectors between the Power Box and the Camera Box, until they are locked in their female connectors.

4. The system is installed and connected.

5. At first operation, there is a need to restart the USB ports in the VPU,  using “device manager”.  This operation is a onetime procedure.
